The fast food chain is expected to open 100 new outlets and provide multiple job opportunities to the Nigerian population
As many American brands and franchises are expanding into Nigeria in line with the U.S. Mission Nigeria initiative, Burger King — a renowned U.S. fast food brand — has reportedly set foot in the regional market with its first outlet.
Commenting on the opening of the first outlet in Nigeria, US Mission Commercial Counselor Jennifer Woods said they are pleased to welcome the arrival of the iconic US burger brand in the country. She further remarked on the influence new businesses will have on the economy, especially a well-recognized brand like Burger King in an emerging market such as Nigeria.
Woods said that with Africa’s sizable youth population and the largest economy connected to the world, US brands must consider Nigeria a crucial market. Companies as well as the region will jointly benefit from brands expanding in Nigeria.
She further noted that adding one more American franchise, which accentuates a culture of excellence, will provide multiple job opportunities to the Nigerian population as the business expands to new locations across the country.
Woods also praised the high level of consumers enthusiasm and interest for the most renowned American quick-service restaurant.
Honorable Femi Gbajabiamila, Speaker of the House of Representatives, congratulated Burger King and its local partners on the exhilarating business venture, mentioning it as one of the signs of the benefits of bilateral relationship between the U.S. and Nigeria. Gbajabiamila added that they expect Burger King to roll out around 100 outlets in the country.
Reportedly, the grand opening included presence of Robert Lu, GM of Burger King UK, Africa and the Middle East, and Almu Miguel-Romero, Burger King Area Franchise Lead (Sub-Saharan Africa).
