Emmanuel;
Your recent article on Mr. Kpormakpor was excellent. In 2004, I met Mr.
Kpormakpor and was saddened by his condition.
In the obituaries of each Liberian government official, their families
often write that "he served his country with honesty and dedication" even
if public records show otherwise. If anyone deserves this
characterization, it is Mr. Kpormakpor.
I
hope that your disclosure of his sufferings in your piece will galvanize
Liberians to encourage the government to establish a system under which it
will provide for the country's good citizens financially during difficult
times. Good citizens here are public servants, artists, athletes,
teachers, doctors, and Liberian community leaders who served the country
without stealing from it.
My best wishes to you and your family.
Sincerely,
Benedict Wisseh

"Mr. Taylor is accused by prosecutors of instigating and waging a campaign
of murder, rape, mutilation, sexual slavery and conscription of child
solders during the wars in Liberia and Sierra Leone which dislocated
nearly 1 million people and killed an estimated 250,000 others in the
1990's in West Africa. Mr. Taylor has consistently denied the charges."
The above paragraph in your August 26, 2010 Article is misleading and
needs to be corrected. Mr. Taylor is on trial for his alleged involvement
in the conflict in Sierra Leone. His trial has nothing to do with crimes
carried out during the war in Liberia. The paragraph gives an impression
that Taylor is been tried for "waging a campaign of murder, mutilation,
sexual slavery, and conscription of child soldiers during the wars in
Liberia and Sierra Leone which dislocated nearly 1 million people and
killed an estimated 250,000 others in the 1990's in West Africa. A war
crime tribunal has not been established for Liberia and Taylor is on trial
solely for his role in the conflict in Sierra Leone.
Thanks for the wonderful work you all are doing at Running Africa

including “unlawful killings, abductions, forced labor, physical and
sexual violence, use of child soldiers, looting and burning of civilian
structures, were either actions within the join criminal enterprise or
were a reasonably foreseeable consequence of a join criminal enterprise"
